Sunday = catch-up/chill day?

So i just woke up about an hour ago (so about 1:25 ish) after a long day/night yesterday xD...well in general, a fun-filled weekend.

Friday night: After doing laundry and watching Desperate Housewives (new obsession :3) my friend Jesse called me to talk, so we hung out for a bit while i folded my laundry and then invited me to eat dinner with him and his friends. One of his friends, his roomie, is this kid Sean that i've known since preschool (didn't go to the same high school though). So we had BJ's. Yummmmy. but the waiter took 40 minutes to give us our check because he forgot about us and went on break xP. Afterwards, stayed in and watched desperate housewives until 4am xD.

Saturday: Kevin came at 10 am to come with me and my dorm hall (well only 10 of us haha) to the Getty Museum in LA. I hadn't been there since i was about 7 i think. It was gorgeous. And fun. However, we were supposed to stay until 4pm (got there at 12:20 ish) but we left at 3:30 instead because my RA (resident adviser) wanted to get fried chicken xP. So sadly the trip was cut short and we went to Roscoe's chicken and waffles. Kevin and i got nothing because we had packed sandwiches already and eaten them (yay for being prepared!). After we got back, Kevin and i chilled and took a nap...then watched an episode of Will&Grace (1st episode of season 8!) and an episode of Batman, the animated series (the first poison ivy episode). Then i was going to go to the free semi-formal in my dorm, but it was lame, so my roomie Mayra invited me to go to a kickback with her and her friend Jasmine (+ others). Met some cool people. it was a good night :]. Got back at 5:15 am ish. Good times.

Woke up late today. Now, eating time. Maybe an episode of Desperate Housewives before i do homework? :]].

It's Friday!

Finally! :D. I haven't really talked much about my week itself, but this week's been a long one. It just seemed to drag on. I couldn't really focus in classes all week...even on my days off (Tuesdays and Thursdays)... Anyways. xD. I stumbled upon this when i turned on my laptop:

Interesting choices for best dresses ever xD.

I agree with Audrey Hepburn form-fitting black gown, Marilyn Monroe's slinky champagne dress, Jennifer Lopez's barely-there plunging neckline Versace gown, and possibly Madonna "Like a Virgin" wedding dress or Gwenyth Paltrow's pink princess dress, but some of them didn't seem particularly iconic to me. I was surprised that they didn't post Marilyn Monroe's famous over-the-vent white empire dress, Twiggy's famous babydoll looks, or Jackie O's vintage one shoulder Oscar de La Renta dress (i'm pretty sure j.lo wore a similar one a few years ago...). Or Halle Berry's famous flower embroidered dress (which strategically covers her bust).


- Even though i'd never wear this dress, J.Lo definitely made fashion history. And still wows us with her amazingness. I mean, wow, she not only showed us so much skin, she was elegant as well. And lucky that she didn't have a little nip-slip accident xD. (Thank you, double-sided tape!)


- Twiggy may be ridiculously skinny, but she's a living legend. Gorgeous.


- Marilyn Monroe's famous tease dress :3. She pushes down her skirt with such grace, elegance, and sexiness.


- This dress is amazing. One of the best Oscar (correct me if i'm wrong...?) dresses of all time. It mixes romance with sexiness. And if i'm not mistaken, she sobbed on stage wearing this dress as she graciously accepted an award....

And...i rarely go on fashion websites (very time consuming, however, i should do my homework xD) i stumbled upon this site as i was googling pictures to include in today's post xD..

A site (which i've been a longtime fan of) that is helpful in terms of fashion is http://nymag.com. This site gives you access to the latest fashion trends (among other things hip and happening in New York) and the major designers' recent runway collections, among other things, of course.
Another one is http://lookbook.nu (which i am a part of!). It's very inspirational and helps me concoct new looks for myself with the help of visual aids (other people's looks). Plus it helps me quench my daily thirst for fashion :3!

I wish I could be like this sweet little girl. :]. She has a good outlook on life. I'm going to imitate her and every morning (probably without the dance though) i'm going to try and find something i like about myself. :3. I sometimes do this, and it helps me get through the day a little.

guilty pleasures...& not-so-guilty pleasures :3.

Yes. I have guilty pleasures :3. Who doesn't? So it's 2 in the morning. And what do i do? Decide to watch America's Next Top Model :P. I know, it's not as great as it used to be. But i can't help it-- i need my weekly dose of drama! I lack that in my life (thankfully). It's just depressing how terrible Top Model has become. The girls aren't as talented, unique, or relate-able and Tyra has resorted to cheap gimmicks and lame themes to draw in an audience. I think Tyra is just trying to feed on America's current hunger for lame sorority-girl drama. Tyra says she values beauty, inside and out, but seriously, a lot of the girls on the show ain't pretty. Some girls...like in this season (Cycle 14), are so stupid. Noooo joke.

-->"I thought New Zealand was like above Canada or something" ... -_-. There's a reason why Americans are seen as imbeciles. And this quote is coming from a girl who had sex the first time, got pregnant, and said "i really don't know how it happened"... C'mon... -_-.

I have to say though, the winner of Cycle 13, Nicole Fox, was definitely a good choice.She's humble, she takes critique, stays away from the drama, and is always fierce. I think only once she got an average critique. She was, for the most part, top photo of every week.



^That was one of her first photoshoots. Seriously. Gorgeous. Genius.

This Cycle has some worthy girls. But their personality turns me off. Top Model, when it does end (because all things, good or bad, come to an end), better end with a bang, not a crash. Let's hope.

Just a lazy Sunday...

So this weekend has been chill. The chillest weekend i've had in a while. Every weekend these days has been hectic for me because every upcoming week for a while it seems like i've had a midterm to be prepared for xP. So this weekend was a good breather :].

Friday: Came home from the dorms and hung out with my mama. Watched Modern Family and Will&Grace.

Saturday: Pretty much slept all day (also watched Will&Grace!) until it was time to get ready to go out to dinner with my boyfriend, Kevin. Went to In-N-Out (Yay, California!). Afterwords, we hung out in Toys-R-Us because we were bored. On one of the TV's they were playing a Mario cartoon. The episode was a spin-off of star wars! It was crazy lol. And there was this little boy sitting on the floor saying "It's Pokemon! Mommy, it's Pokemon!" I tried correcting him but he didn't hear me... After that, went into Petsmart to look at the animals (Kevin and i love animals :3), and let me just tell you, the cats are scary. They're rescue cats, so they've been beaten a lot, hence their hostile stares.

Thennn, he drove us home (we live in the same neighborhood) and we got ready to go to Formal at his University (yes we're college kids :D). The theme was Moulin Rouge, so i decided to wear my favorite dress (that i think fit the theme pretty well): White strapless cocktail dress (1950's -ish inspired) with black print of Renaissance looking things (i.e. lovers, cherubs, flowers, stars, and of course, naked ladies :3).



^An old picture of me wearing this dress (my hair's a lot longer now) but this is from June 2008. I've had this dress for 2 years xD. But it fits me like a glove! The back is beautiful. It shows off some skin (my back) without making me look scandalous. Yes, there's a naked lady in the back, but oh well ^_^". And oh, there are hidden pockets!!! I picked the dress to wear for the bajillionth (not really) time because it looks romantic. :]. & Of course my boyfriend looked darling in a black dress shirt, black dress pants, shiny black dress shoes, and a cream tie :]. simple but, we looked adorable! (tooting my own horn xD). I'll post the pictures as soon as i get them (Kevin's little sister took pictures and his mom is bound to post it on facebook at some time, lol).

Soo i slept at 3:30 ish and woke up at noon xD. Way to be productive, huh? And now i'm blogging all of this. I should be packing to go back to the dorms (normally i leave on a Friday and come back on a Monday morning).

First Post

So this is my first blog :]. It's been years since I've blogged...geez (i used to blog on livejournal). Apparently blogging's back in? Or maybe i'm just not hip...haha. Anyways, I'm Jen, but I also go by Mai or Mai-Anh, so call me whichever (most people know me as Jen though. Few people call me Mai and only one person calls me Mai-Anh). I'm into fashion, psychology, and broadening my horizons. I also have a deviantart and a lookbook, so check me out there! I post the random photoshoots i participate in (i model for fun with friends) and post pictures of my outfits on lookbook (but lately i haven't really been posting much since i've been busy with school).
